This is the most pointless show ever. Seeing baby’s fart and dogs biting crotches and people degrading themselves by making themselves look like complete dumbasses is funny? Have the brains of America been THIS simplified? This is a show that belongs on MTV- it has all of the traits an MTV show has: it’s pointless, it’s pointless, umm… It’s pointless… And, well, it’s pointless! If you wan t a show with humor (not to steal anything from Danny), watch the Simpson- the funniest show ever along with Family Guy. Why would anyone want to watch a show about people acting like complete idiots? MTV Rocks, maybe.

I got a review copy of this and decided to torture myself with AFV, just to see how long I could take it. Answer: Less than an hour was enough to make me walk away.

Don’t get me wrong: watching someone get hit in the crotch can be funny. And some of the videos were genuinely humorous, but host Tom Bergeron could suck the fun out of a circus. His segueways are so belabored, he has to turn to the Jay Leno method at least twice a show to remind people that all the laughter he gets is out of pity. At least he can recognize it.

Suitable for almost all physical ages, but people with normal human adult intelligences might want to steer clear of repeated contact. Maybe it won’t cause brain damage, but about three shows in and I was ready to start scooping out my gray matter with a spoon to end the misery.

Humm…I wondered why the title of the DVD was “Review-America’s Funniest Home Videos Vol 1 with Tom Bergeron.” This is because there have been many hosts of America’s Funniest Home Videos over the more than a decade that this laugh fest has been on the air. The original host was Bob Saget. Former MTV VJ Daisy Fuentes was also a host at one time. This set includes 12 episodes on 3 discs and the fourth disc is the celebration of the shows 300th episiode. I watched the episodes and they are very funny. However, I can’t help but wonder, why would someone want to purchase this series on DVD? The show is still on the air and it’s in sydication. It’s not a serial program, drama, or comedy with a storyline. In many ways, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” is the first reality TV smash. The show was (and is) comprised of funny moments caught on tape. The box promised a thousand laughs, and sure some people might laugh a thousand times, but sometimes watching the clips you really know what is going to happen. My kids loved the set and it was really funny to them, and me in some parts. It probably wouldn’t be very lucrative to release every season on DVD, but I would like to see a “Best of the 80′s” or early 90′s set with Saget and some of the really funny clips from when the show first started to air and you didn’t really have to question what was sheer coincience and what was maybe planned for the camera. It’s a good set for the price. The bottom line is kids will love it.

My son, who is a die hard fan of this show, loves this video collection. That’s who I think this is for; young kids who can’t get enough of pranks and pratfalls. I personally prefer that he watch these videos; as opposed to something like [...].
